What happens: Pressing Super+L (or any screen lock) on the Wayland
session causes GNOME Shell to crash with SIGSEGV. The session
endsimmediately and returns to the GDM login screen, losing all open
windows/applications — it behaves like an unexpected logout, not a lock.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a few apps and unsaved work.
2. Press Super+L to lock the screen (or lock via the Activities/Screen Lock).
3. GNOME Shell segfaults; you land back at the login screen with all apps
closed.
Expected: Screen locks in place, password prompt appears, apps stay running.
Actual: Entire session terminates; open apps are lost.

• Session: Wayland (XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland, desktop ubuntu:GNOME)

• Mutner: crash in libmutter-clutter-18.so.0

• GPU: hybrid — NVIDIA RTX 4060 Max-Q (10de:28a0) + AMD HawkPoint integrated

• Immediately before the crash, the journal shows repeated GNOME Shell
messages: "Attempting to call back into JSAPI during the sweepingphase
of GC. This is most likely caused by not destroying a Clutter actor or
Gtk+ widget with ::destroy signals connected…", then thesession tears
down. That points at a JS/GJS signal callback (via libffi) firing during
GC — classic gjs/mutter interaction.
Notes for maintainers: Seen a few times so far (I now avoid locking the
screen this is a work machine I can't lose progress, so I may not
capture more occurrences quickly). Whoopsie/crashauto-reporting was
disabled on this box, so this is the first this crash is reported.
