Summary:
Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE201 card firmware crashes intermittently with a fatal
error, followed by driver auto-recovery (deauth + reassociate within
~8 seconds). Suspected root cause: linux-firmware-intel-wireless is
missing the newer 102.ucode file that the driver attempts to load,
falling back to the older 101.ucode.
System:
- Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS (Noble Numbat)
- Kernel: 6.17.0-1032-oem
- linux-firmware-intel-wireless: 20240318.git3b128b60-0ubuntu3.1
(confirmed via apt-cache policy: this is the only version available
in noble-updates; no backport exists)
- Chip: Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE201 320MHz
Steps to reproduce:
Occurs intermittently during normal Wi-Fi use; not tied to a specific
user action. Connection drops and reconnects within ~8 seconds.

Workaround applied:
Added `options iwlwifi disable_11be=1` to /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf
to disable Wi-Fi 7 (BE) mode. This appears to resolve the crash by
keeping the card on the stable 101.ucode path, at the cost of capping
throughput to Wi-Fi 6E speeds.
Request:
Please consider backporting a newer linux-firmware-intel-wireless
package containing the 102.ucode (or later) file for the BE201 chip,
as this hardware is not fully supported by the version currently in
noble-updates.
