The GNU Coreutils maintainer Collin recommends to use `uname -m` instead as per: https://github.com/uutils/coreutils/pull/8842#issuecomment-3384684221
Interestingly, GNU Coreutils also returns "unknown" for `uname -p` by default. We have traditionally carried a patch for this on Ubuntu to fix it: https://git.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/coreutils/tree/debian/patches/80_fedora_sysinfo.patch?h=ubuntu/noble IIUC, it seems that omitting `uname -p` was a deliberate decision. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2166793 Title: [SRU] uname -p fails to report architecture To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rust-coreutils/+bug/2166793/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
