Public bug reported: Due to the complex state of the archive and the ongoing transitions for the Ocaml and Rocq ecosystems, we should remove the Ocaml bindings from the LLVM package slightly ahead of Debian, who will also be making this change.
This will unblock LLVM and Rust defaults transitions, and can be dropped soon as we merge new versions from Debian. Regarding Debian's decision, the initial idea is documented in the pkg-llvm-team mailing list: https://alioth-lists.debian.net/pipermail/pkg-llvm-team/2026-June/015604.html Notably, some versions of the package have already made the change, such as: https://salsa.debian.org/pkg-llvm-team/llvm-toolchain/-/commit/68c2f75176ba3efc67301ba19d6a9d9126187cbe This demonstrates that we can expect this change to be adopted upstream and so this will not introduce a significant delta. ** Affects: llvm-toolchain-18 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2166930 Title: Remove Ocaml bindings from the Stonking package To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/llvm-toolchain-18/+bug/2166930/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
