** Description changed: lubuntu-desktop-minimal and ubuntu-standard depend on busybox-static for the boot recovery spec [1] to provide a static shell for disaster recovery. See also bug #505887. The topic of static builds where raised on https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2026/09/msg00052.html and the discussion shows that using busybox-static is for niche use cases. I asked around and nearly nobody has been using busybox-static for recovery. It is much, much more common to use some live media to boot and do stuff from there, having all tools available. + Since ubuntu-standard depends on busybox-static dracut will use busybox- + static instead of busybox, because both binary packages are conflicting + with each other (see bug #2167087). This is a functional change since we + dropped busybox-initramfs in favor of busybox this cycle (see bug + #2157328). + So please drop busybox-static from lubuntu-desktop-minimal and ubuntu- standard.
