Thanks for the explanation and the reassurance! I understand that the risk is low, but since this is my primary work machine, I came up with a safer workaround to test this for you. I did an experiment: I used VMware Workstation to pass my laptop's physical Bluetooth controller directly to a Windows 10 Virtual Machine (via USB passthrough). Inside the Windows guest, the JBL speaker connected and worked flawlessly. This confirms it's strictly a Linux driver/BlueZ issue and the hardware is fine. My proposal: I will create a fresh Kubuntu VM, pass the Bluetooth hardware directly to it just like I did with Windows, and install the v7.3-rc1 mainline kernel *inside* that guest VM. This will give the RC kernel direct access to the hardware while keeping my host safe. I've also attached a short 10-second video showing the exact connect/disconnect loop behavior on the host for better context. Does this VM testing method work for you? If so, I will proceed with the RC kernel test and report back the results! If so, please let me know what I should install from scratch in VMware—specifically, which system version already includes the kernel with the fix?
