Thanks for opening the upstream issue. Just to clarify, I am not primarily proposing my local modifications as a patch. Those changes were experimental workarounds to make ncview usable on my new HiDPI Ubuntu 26.04 system. My main request is for ncview itself to have proper HiDPI support on modern Linux desktops. On my previous Ubuntu system, ncview had a visually consistent interface: the main controls, colorbar labels, range dialog, and XY/time-series plots all had reasonable relative sizes. On Ubuntu 26.04, increasing the Xaw font size only scales some parts of the interface. Other elements remain very small or require separate source-code changes. In particular, I currently see inconsistent scaling between: - main Xaw buttons and labels - colorbar numbers - Range dialog numeric fields - SciPlot/XY time-series plots - default window geometry I managed to improve some of these manually, but the resulting interface still does not look or behave as consistently as ncview did on my older system (attached). Ideally ncview would detect or support HiDPI displays in a unified way, so users would not need to modify X resources, recompile ncview, or hard-code individual font and window sizes. I am happy to test future changes on Ubuntu 26.04 and also through X11 forwarding to HPC systems.
