Public bug reported:

[ Impact ]

 * Dock set to auto-hide and shown on more than one display: a dock
   visible on a monitor keeps unredirection inhibited compositor-wide,
   so fullscreen windows (games, videos) on the other monitors are
   never scanned out directly (always composited: more latency and
   power usage).

 * With scanout-monitor.py (see below) the square in its window turns
   grey (composited) whenever the dock is shown on the other monitor.

[ Test Plan ]

 * Setup: two monitors, "Auto-hide the Dock" on, dock shown on all
   displays.

 * Run scanout-monitor.py from
   https://gist.github.com/3v1n0/a175bbeabc8ff3740dd13c0aec8bb3eb
   (needs python3-pywayland, libgbm1): fullscreen window with a square
   that is orange when directly scanned out, grey when composited.

 * Keep the dock visible on the other monitor: the square must stay
   orange.

 * Change the dock position or monitor in Settings and repeat: same
   result.

 * Default fixed dock: square always orange.

 * Single monitor, auto-hide on: dock hides, square orange.

 * autohide-in-fullscreen enabled, dock revealed over the fullscreen
   window: dock visible without flickering, square grey while shown,
   orange once hidden.

[ Where problems could occur ]

 * The change affects when the dock prevents fullscreen windows from
   being scanned out directly. If it doesn't do it while it is drawn on
   top of a fullscreen window of its own monitor (e.g. when revealed
   with autohide-in-fullscreen), the window may be shown over the dock,
   making the dock invisible or flickering.

 * If instead the inhibition is not released when the dock hides, the
   fullscreen state changes or the docks are re-created, fullscreen
   windows would be composited again as before, possibly also on
   single-monitor setups.

[ Other Info ]

 * Upstream: https://github.com/micheleg/dash-to-dock/issues/2348.

 * Default configuration (fixed dock) not affected.

** Affects: gnome-shell-ubuntu-extensions (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Medium
