Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (Resolute), APT attempted to install
`imagemagick-7.q16`, but tried to download a package version from the
Ubuntu Pro/ESM repository that was no longer available.

The installation failed with HTTP 404:

APT reported:

`404 Not Found [IP: 185.125.190.75 443]`

The package was requested with:

`sudo apt install imagemagick-7.q16`

APT then displayed:

`Erreur : Impossible de récupérer certaines archives, peut-être devrez-
vous lancer apt-get update ou essayer avec --fix-missing ?`

Running `sudo apt update` alone did not resolve the problem.

The problem was resolved by removing the local APT package lists:

`sudo rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/*`

followed by:

`sudo apt update`

After rebuilding the APT package lists, `sudo apt install
imagemagick-7.q16` worked correctly.

Expected behavior:
APT should not try to download a package version that is no longer available
from the configured Ubuntu Pro/ESM repository. Package metadata should remain
synchronized with the versions actually available from the repository.

Actual behavior:
APT attempted to download an unavailable package version and returned HTTP 404
until the local package lists were manually deleted and rebuilt.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Have Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (Resolute) with Ubuntu Pro/ESM Apps enabled.
2. Run `sudo apt install imagemagick-7.q16`.
3. APT attempts to retrieve the ESM package version
`7.1.2.18+dfsg1-1ubuntu0.1~esm2`.
4. The ESM server returns HTTP 404.
5. Remove `/var/lib/apt/lists/*` and run `sudo apt update`.
6. Repeat the installation; it succeeds.

This may indicate stale or inconsistent APT package metadata involving
the Ubuntu Pro/ESM Apps repository.
