Your touchpad uses a type of connection called I2C-HID. When your laptop
wakes up from sleep, this touchpad chip often fails to reconnect
properly — it sends back an error instead of turning back on correctly.
That's why it freezes and only sometimes responds: the wake-up handshake
between the chip and the system is failing intermittently. This is a
known Linux kernel driver bug on AMD laptops, not something wrong with
your hardware or something you caused. It needs a code fix from the
kernel developers, which isn't available for your specific touchpad chip
yet.
