Public bug reported:
On Ubuntu 26.04, GIMP 3.2.2 crashes during startup at with the splashscreen at
“Initializing Babl Fishes” with:
```text
set device 'Wayland Pointer' to mode: disabled
.../script-fu: fatal error: GIMP crashed
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
```
The crash occurs even with a completely clean `HOME`, so it is not
caused by user configuration or cached GEGL/Babl data.
The issue is specific to native Wayland: GIMP starts normally with:
```bash
GDK_BACKEND=x11 gimp
```
Running `sudo -H gimp` also works, using XWayland.
**Workaround:** run GIMP with `GDK_BACKEND=x11`.
