Public bug reported:

After the upgrade from 3.31.0 to 3.32.0 (noble-updates, uploaded 2026-09-28),
performing a copy (Ctrl+C) on the remote Windows desktop causes
the RDP session to disconnect for ~1 second and automatically reconnect. After
this happens, clipboard synchronization in the remote→local
direction no longer works at all (until a full client restart). Copying on the
local client and pasting on the remote still works.
The problem is fully gone after downgrading to 3.31.0, so this is a clear
3.31.0 → 3.32.0 regression.
Environment
Client: Ubuntu 24.04.5 LTS (noble), X11 session
RDP client: Remmina 1.4.43+dfsg-0ubuntu0.24.04.2 (remmina-plugin-rdp links
against libfreerdp-client3.so.3 /
libfreerdp3.so.3, i.e. FreeRDP 3.x)
FreeRDP: 3.32.0+dfsg-0ubuntu0.24.04.1 (broken) / 3.31.0+dfsg-0ubuntu0.24.04.1
(working)
Remote: Windows 10/11 desktop, plain RDP, clipboard sync enabled (default)
Timeline
Until 2026-09-28: everything worked with libfreerdp3-3 / libfreerdp-client3-3 /
libwinpr3-3 at 3.31.0+dfsg-0ubuntu0.24.04.1
2026-09-28 22:21: automatic upgrade to 3.32.0+dfsg-0ubuntu0.24.04.1
(noble-updates)
2026-09-29: first occurrence of the issue
Downgraded all three packages back to 3.31.0+dfsg-0ubuntu0.24.04.1 → issue
completely gone
(Issue reproduces again if 3.32.0 is reinstalled)
Steps to reproduce
Connect to a Windows desktop with Remmina (RDP, default settings, clipboard
sync enabled)
On the remote desktop, select some text (e.g. in Notepad or a browser) and
press Ctrl+C
Observe: the RDP session drops for about 1 second and reconnects automatically
After the reconnect, copy again on the remote: the text never reaches the local
clipboard
Copy on the local client and paste on the remote: still works
Suspected cause
The 3.32.0 release includes X11 client-side clipboard changes that are the
prime suspects:
[client,x11] fix clipboard atom evaluation (#13347)
[client,x11] use correct count to iterate atoms (#13349)
Workaround
Downgrade to 3.31.0:
libfreerdp3-3=3.31.0+dfsg-0ubuntu0.24.04.1
libfreerdp-client3-3=3.31.0+dfsg-0ubuntu0.24.04.1
libwinpr3-3=3.31.0+dfsg-0ubuntu0.24.04.1

(debs still available in the Ubuntu pool: pool/main/f/freerdp3/)Additional info
available on request
FreeRDP debug logs of the disconnect (can be captured by setting the FreeRDP
log level to DEBUG in Remmina → Preferences → Logging,
then reproducing)
Exact clipboard content that triggers it (plain text is enough; not yet tested
whether rich formats such as CF_HTML are required)

** Affects: freerdp3 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
