** Description changed:

- Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS
-
- libadwaita-1-0 1.9.1-0ubuntu0.1
+ [ Impact ]

  Expected: AdwSpinner / AdwSpinnerPaintable spinners (e.g. GNOME
  Software "Loading Updates", GNOME Settings) should rotate regardless of
  the selected gtk-theme.

  What happened instead: With org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-theme set
  to any non-Yaru theme (e.g. 'Colloid-Grey-Dark'), every AdwSpinner is
  drawn but never rotates. Hover/CSS animations work; the GSK renderer
  (vulkan/ngl/cairo) makes no difference.

  Cause: debian/patches/ubuntu/adw-spinner-paintable-design-and-animation.patch
  adds update_animation_style(). When adw_settings_get_yaru_accent()
  returns NULL (whenever gtk-theme does not start with "Yaru"), it does:

-     adw_timed_animation_set_duration (..., ADW_DURATION_INFINITE);
-     adw_timed_animation_set_value_to (..., 0);
+     adw_timed_animation_set_duration (..., ADW_DURATION_INFINITE);
+     adw_timed_animation_set_value_to (..., 0);

  This overwrites the upstream values (duration SPIN_DURATION_MS * N_CYCLES,
  value-to N_CYCLES * G_PI * 2). With value-from = value-to = 0,
  adw_animation_get_value() is always 0, so the upstream snapshot path
  draws the same arc every frame.

- Steps to reproduce:
- 1. gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-theme 'Adwaita'
- 2. gnome-software --quit, then open GNOME Software -> Updates -> Check for
Updates
- 3. The spinner does not rotate. Setting gtk-theme back to 'Yaru' makes it
rotate again.

+ 1. Install the libadwaita-1-examples package
+ 2. Set the GTK theme to be Adwaita:
+      gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-theme 'Adwaita'
+ 3. Launch the "Adwaita Demo" app
+ 4. Select the Spinner demo from the sidebar
+ 5. Verify that a page opens with a rotating spinner
+
+ [ Where problems could occur ]
+
+ libadwaita is the GNOME platform library for GTK, providing widgets to
+ build applications that follow the GNOME Human Interface Guidelines. It
+ is used to build all the default GNOME applications.
+
+ The patch only modifies the spinner logic.
+
+ Problems would manifest in GNOME applications that use spinners.
