Next I would try the Nvidia driver option without the "open" kernel,
because those error messages sound like they could be specific to the
open kernel driver. I would also try a different driver version like 595
or 615.

You can change drivers using 'software-properties-gtk' or the 'ubuntu-
drivers' command. But we're working on releasing a better user interface
for it...
