Public bug reported:
I found an issue with GNOME Remote Login (RDP) on Ubuntu 26.04.
The issue can be reproduced with the following steps:
1. Enable "Remote Login" in Ubuntu Settings.
2. Log in locally to the Ubuntu desktop.
3. From a Windows 11 PC, connect to the Ubuntu machine using the standard
Windows Remote Desktop client (mstsc.exe).
4. The existing local graphical session is disconnected as part of the Remote
Login.
5. The RDP connection succeeds and authentication completes, but the remote
desktop shows only a black screen with the mouse pointer.
6. Disconnect the RDP session.
7. Connect again using RDP.
On the second RDP connection, the Ubuntu desktop starts normally and can
be used.
Expected behavior:
The first RDP connection should start a normal Ubuntu desktop session after the
existing local session is disconnected.
Actual behavior:
The first RDP connection results in a black screen with only the mouse pointer.
Reconnecting a second time works normally.
The issue is reproducible on multiple Ubuntu 26.04 virtual machines.
I have reproduced the issue using both a physical Windows 11 PC and a
Windows 11 virtual machine as the RDP client.
I have also reproduced the issue on Ubuntu virtual machines running
under both virt-manager/libvirt and Proxmox VE.
