Public bug reported:

Subject: do-release-upgrade from Ubuntu 24.04 Noble to 26.04 Resolute
fails during dependency calculation

The system is Ubuntu 24.04 Noble on x86_64, using Xubuntu/XFCE
components.

The command:

    sudo do-release-upgrade

detects Ubuntu 26.04 LTS Resolute correctly, downloads and authenticates
the upgrade tool, rewrites the repositories to resolute, and then aborts
with:

    Could not calculate the upgrade
An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

The original system is restored afterwards.

Relevant log error:

    E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks,
this may be caused by held packages.

Before the upgrade attempt, the current Noble system is consistent:

    sudo apt-get check
    # no errors

    sudo apt-get -s full-upgrade
    # only alsa-ucm-conf deferred due to phasing

The upgrade fails even after disabling all third-party repositories and
Ubuntu Pro ESM services.

The resolver repeatedly reports conflicts involving:

- python3-gi and gir1.2-peas-1.0
- rhythmbox and libpeas-1.0-1
- libreoffice-common and libreoffice-core
- libreoffice-core and libxmlsec1-1
- gnome-settings-daemon and mutter-common
- mutter-common and libmutter-14-0

The Foreign package list is empty after source rewriting.

Please investigate the resolute dependency set or release-upgrader
resolver behavior.
