Public bug reported:
python-awscurl 0.44-0ubuntu1 cannot migrate:
python3-awscurl/amd64 in main cannot depend on python3-awscrt in
universe
python3-awscurl is in main because python3-ceilometer depends on it. The
new python3-awscrt dependency comes only from "awscrt" in
install_requires in setup.py (via ${python3:Depends}). awscurl only uses
awscrt for SigV4a signing (botocore.crt.auth.CrtS3SigV4AsymAuth).
Regular SigV4 signing, the default, works without it. I checked: "from
botocore import crt" imports fine without awscrt, and a signed S3
request is built correctly. Debian's 0.44-3 has the same hard
dependency.
Rather than a MIR for python3-awscrt (a binding to the aws-c-* C library
stack), make it optional: move awscrt to upstream's existing, empty
"awslibs" extra and add Suggests: python3-awscrt.
Tested in a stonking container: 0.44-3ubuntu1 (Debian 0.44-3 plus this
change) builds, the build-time tests pass (27 passed), the binary
depends on python3-botocore, python3-configargparse, python3-requests,
python3-boto3 and python3-urllib3 (Suggests: python3-awscrt), and the
pybuild-autopkgtest passes.
If SigV4a support from the main package is a requirement for ceilometer,
the alternative is a MIR for python3-awscrt.
