Public bug reported:
The AppArmor profile for the notify-send command (as of
5.0.2-0ubuntu1~26.04.1) breaks the actions feature.
Invoking e.g.
notify-send -A action test
prints an error message
Actions are not supported by this notifications server. Displaying
non-interactively.
and shows the notification without the action button.
The journal shows that this is due to AppArmor denying the
GetCapabilities call:
dbus-daemon[6040]: apparmor="DENIED" operation="dbus_method_call"
bus="session" path="/org/freedesktop/Notifications"
interface="org.freedesktop.Notifications" member="GetCapabilities"
mask="send" name=":1.32" pid=463843 label="notify-send" peer_pid=6935
peer_label="unconfined"
To make notification actions fully work, the following additions to the
AppArmor profile appear to be necessary:
---
dbus (send)
bus=session
path=/org/freedesktop/Notifications
interface=org.freedesktop.Notifications
member={GetCapabilities,CloseNotification},
dbus (receive)
bus=session
path=/org/freedesktop/Notifications
interface=org.freedesktop.Notifications
member={ActivationToken,ActionInvoked,NotificationClosed},
---
