Public bug reported: When displaying a horizontal line separator, Zim (0.76.3) freezes with a crash message. This appears to be due to using an outdated version of the package. I think this is due to changes in weak references in newer versions of Python. I am using Ubuntu 26.04, upgraded from 24.04.

The program now works, but horizontal lines do not always display on start up but do display if you change pages and then back. Horizontal lines are a feature that people may or may not use, but which I happen to use a lot. If you use them, then Zim is not usable in its current state (without the hot fix). You insert a horizontal line into a page using the menu: "Insert", then "Horizontal Line". The proper solution is to upgrade to a newer version which makes more extensive changes to address the issue. I have tested a newer version, and it appeared to resolve all problems associated with this. However, I am currently using the older version (with the hot fix) as it is what Ubuntu is packaging. I use Zim for planning and keeping track of pretty much everything, so I use it many times per day. This is the only issue that I have come across so far in the past week since I upgraded from 24.04.
