*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 2148074 ***

I tried to follow suggestions as follows:
rm -rf ~/.cache/thumbnails/*
# I edited /etc/apparmor.d/nautilus to add the proposed content.
sudo cat /etc/apparmor.d/nautilus
# This profile allows everything and only exists to give the
# application a name instead of having the label "unconfined"
abi <abi/4.0>,
include <tunables/global>
profile nautilus /usr/bin/nautilus flags=(unconfined) {
userns,
# Site-specific additions and overrides. See local/README for details.
include if exists <local/nautilus>
}
#Suggested by Marc in #12
sudo apparmor_parser -r /etc/apparmor.d/nautilus
#suggested by Motosuwa in #15
sudo apt install ffmpegthumbnailer gstreamer1.0-libav
#As suggested by Michael in #14
sudo sysctl -w kernel.apparmor_restrict_unprivileged_userns=0
sudo aa-status
cd .cache/thumbnails
rm -R fail
I'm not sure if I did something unnecessary or things in the right order, but I
got thumbnails back in nautilus and gthumb. Both were missing thumbnails.
Thanks to all of you for your posts,
Alex
