Thank you Jan for your verification on Jammy (22.04)!

test_pfm_z17.c

Verification performed on b46lp08:

- Machine: IBM Type 9175 (z17), LPAR
- OS: Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS (Jammy), s390x
- Kernel: 5.15.0-198-generic
- Package tested: libpfm4 4.11.1+git32-gd0b85fb-1ubuntu0.2
from PPA ppa:fheimes/lp2121808

Test method:

Since linux-tools perf on Ubuntu 22.04 s390x is statically linked and
does not use the system libpfm4, verification was performed by compiling a
small C test program directly against the installed libpfm4 and enumerating
all events from the cpum_cf PMU on the live z17 system.

Result: PASS

All 9 z17-specific extended counter set events from upstream commit
964baf9d35d5f88d8422f96d8a82c672042e7064 were correctly enumerated by
libpfm4 on the z17 hardware:

L1D_RO_EXCL_WRITES (counter 128, extended set)
DTLB2_WRITES (counter 129)
DTLB2_MISSES (counter 130)
CRSTE_1MB_WRITES (counter 131)
ITLB2_WRITES (counter 134)
CYCLES_SAMETHRD (counter 202)
WRONG_BRANCH_PREDICTION (counter 206)
NNPA_INVOCATIONS (counter 267)
MT_DIAG_CYCLES_ONE_THR_ACTIVE (counter 448)

The machine type dispatch for 9175 in pfmlib_s390x_cpumf.c functions
correctly.

Note: perf stat -e cpumf/L1D_RO_EXCL_WRITES/ fails on this system as
expected -- the Ubuntu 22.04 kernel 5.15 does not expose z17 extended
counter set events via sysfs. This is a kernel scope limitation unrelated
to this libpfm4 fix. Basic cpum_cf counters (CPU_CYCLES, INSTRUCTIONS)
measure correctly on 5.15.

Verified.

Reproducer: test_pfm_z17.c (attached).
Requires libpfm4-dev installed.
Build and run with: gcc -o test_pfm_z17 test_pfm_z17.c -lpfm && ./test_pfm_z17
