Public bug reported: Noble-to-Resolute LTS upgrade aborts: ESM Apps libde265 package returns HTTP 404
Ubuntu 24.04.5 LTS to Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS upgrade aborted during downloads. Ubuntu Pro esm-apps, esm-infra and livepatch are enabled. The installed libde265-0 is 1.0.15-1ubuntu0.1 from noble-updates/noble-security. Release-upgrader 26.04.25 selected libde265-0 for upgrade. The retained resolute-apps-security Packages index advertises version 1.0.16-1ubuntu0.1~esm1 and this filename: pool/main/libd/libde265/libde265-0_1.0.16-1ubuntu0.1~esm1_amd64.deb The download returned HTTP 404 three times, across 2001:67c:1562::21 and 2001:67c:1562::22: https://esm.ubuntu.com/apps/ubuntu/pool/main/libd/libde265/libde265-0_1.0.16-1ubuntu0.1%7eesm1_amd64.deb The signed InRelease Date is Wed, 07 Oct 2026 15:14:20 UTC. Please investigate whether the target ESM Apps package index and package- serving endpoint are inconsistent. The client logs cannot determine whether this is stale published metadata, archive synchronization, or URL handling. Expected: every package advertised by the target ESM index is downloadable, allowing the LTS upgrade to complete. Actual: download fails with HTTP 404 and upgrade aborts. Noble sources were restored. The run also displayed eight foreign packages associated with ESM Apps, consistent with bug #2168979. That warning may be separate from this download failure. Attached diagnostics are limited to the upgrade main and APT logs. Personal usernames, home paths, hostname and email addresses have been redacted. No repositories, Pro settings or installed packages were changed during diagnosis, and the upgrade has not been retried.
