Public bug reported:
When authd is in use, choosing an authentication mechanism from the login
options menu starts the same challenge twice, so the prompt is re-rendered
and any input typed in between is discarded.
Steps to reproduce:
1. On a system using authd, open the login options menu (bottom left).
2. Select an authentication mechanism (e.g. a PIN/FIDO challenge).
3. Observe the prompt / shell logs.
Expected: the challenge is activated once.
Actual: it is activated twice; the logs show "authd: Starting challenge
request ..." and "authd: Selecting mechanism ... true" repeated.
