Public bug reported:
Please remove parmetis 4.0.3-7build5 from stonking-proposed.
parmetis was removed from plucky in December 2024 ("Debian
#1080199,1084808, remove parmetis and rdeps, removed in testing") and
came back in questing as a no-change rebuild. It has been stuck in
-proposed for 522 days because its own autopkgtest fails (OpenMPI 5
oversubscription on amd64/arm64/ppc64el, and mpich not finding the test
binary on armhf, Debian #1080199).
Nothing needs it:
- It has never been in the stonking release pocket.
- No package in stonking (release or proposed) depends or build-depends on
libparmetis-dev or parmetis-test. The packages that need a ParMETIS API
(dune-grid, opm-grid, superlu-dist, python-escript) use libscotchparmetis-dev
from scotch.
- In Debian it is non-free, only in unstable/experimental, and not in testing.
Binaries to remove with the source: libparmetis-dev, libparmetis4.0,
parmetis-doc, parmetis-test.
The test fixes will be sent to Debian, so the package can come back
through a sync if Debian fixes it and it returns to testing.
