Confirming the fix reported in comment #9 on a second, independent machine, and
asking for it to be picked up for Ubuntu.

Hardware (a different unit, not the reporter's):

  Lenovo Legion 7 16IAX7, board name 82TD, BIOS K1CN48WW
  Realtek ALC287, codec SSID 17aa:3874
HD Audio controller 00:1f.3 (8086:7ad0), PCI SSID 17aa:382b
  2x Cirrus Logic CS35L41 (ACPI HID CSC3551), I2C
  Ubuntu 24.04.5 LTS, kernel 7.0.0-38-generic

Symptom before the fix: built-in speakers silent, headphones work. dmesg
shows:

  cs35l41-hda i2c-CSC3551:00-cs35l41-hda.0: Failed property cirrus,dev-index:
-22
cs35l41-hda i2c-CSC3551:00-cs35l41-hda.0: error -EINVAL: Platform not
supported
  snd_hda_codec_alc269 hdaudioC1D0: ALC287: picked fixup for PCI SSID 17aa:0000

Note the empty fixup name and the 17aa:0000 wildcard: the codec never selects
ALC287_FIXUP_CS35L41_I2C_2 for this SSID, so the CS35L41 amps are never linked
to
the speaker output.

Upstream status. The fix is merged in mainline as

6485da8579e2 ALSA: hda: Add Lenovo Legion 7i 16IAX7 17AA3874 quirk

first released in v7.2 (merged via sound-fix-7.2-rc1, 27.06.2026). It touches
exactly two files, which matches the analysis above:

  sound/hda/codecs/realtek/alc269.c (+1)
  sound/hda/codecs/side-codecs/cs35l41_hda_property.c (+2)

Local verification. I applied those same two changes to the distribution modules
placed in /lib/modules/7.0.0-38-generic/updates/ (plus firmware aliases, see
below) and performed a cold start. dmesg now shows:

  cs35l41-hda ...cs35l41-hda.0: CS35L41 Bound - SSID: 17AA3874, BST: 1, VSPK:
1, CH: L, FW EN: 1
  cs35l41-hda ...cs35l41-hda.1: DSP1: Firmware: 400a4 v0.43.1, 2 algorithms
  snd_hda_codec_alc269 hdaudioC0D0: bound i2c-CSC3551:00-cs35l41-hda.0 (ops
cs35l41_hda_comp_ops)

The "cirrus,dev-index" and "Platform not supported" errors are gone, both amps
probe and bind, calibration applies, and built-in speaker playback works.

Requests:

1) Please cherry-pick 6485da8579e2 into the Ubuntu kernels based on 7.0/7.1.
The commit carries no Cc: stable tag, so it will not arrive through the
stable
trees automatically. Comparable Legion quirks were backported before, e.g.
   d35dfb6329ac (17aa:38a7) and 39815cdfc8d4 (17aa:386f); both do carry Cc:
stable.

2) This report is currently New/Undecided and is not nominated for any series,
so
it may not be on the kernel team's radar. Could it be nominated for the
   affected series?

One remaining gap, for completeness. linux-firmware contains no
cs35l41-dsp1-spk-prot-17aa3874.{wmfw,bin} files at all, so the driver falls back
to the generic blob:

  Falling back to default firmware.

Sound works on that path, but without model-specific DSP tuning. Locally I
mapped
the three 17aa3874 names onto the existing 17aa386f blobs, which removes the
fallback warning. A proper fix belongs in linux-firmware and is being raised
separately with the silicon vendor.
