do-release-upgrade fails when run in fish without an error message
neither on the screen nor in the log files. the issue may be with
screen. The failure occurs just after agreeing to the update after the
pre-check results are reported (like packages from non-ubuntu sources).
i switched to bash and then it ran through. therefore, unfortunately the
output is lost and i can't re-run do-release-upgrade. i will try on
another machine in fish and come back to this in case it fails.
