Hi, Thanks for filing a bug report. This seems pretty common online, and unfortunately doesn't seem to be unique to Ubuntu: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/bluetooth-not-working-on-my-hp-x360-spectre-laptop-a-revisit/168021/55 https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Wireless-and-Networking/My-bluetooth-doesn-t-work-on-Linux/m-p/8595386 https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-Spectre-X360-Bluetooth-linux/td-p/8377335
From what I can tell this is a failure that occurs very early in the boot sequence, so there's not much to go on. First thing to check is to see if there are any firmware or BIOS updates from HP. It would be really useful to get the logs for the boot where it worked. If you remember when that was you can use `journalctl -b -N` (where N is a number) to get the logs from the Nth previous boot. Was there anything special about that one time it did appear? For example, did you warm reboot from Windows into Ubuntu or something like that? I'm wondering if linux isn't powering the radio initially (possibly due to the ACPI/BIOS weirdness), so it doesn't enumerate, so no driver loads. If you want to test that hypothesis you could try manually checking and setting the radio power state via ACPI calls. Save your work first and be prepared to force power off if anything gets weird: sudo apt install acpi-call-dkms sudo modprobe acpi_call echo '\_SB.GBTR' | sudo tee /proc/acpi/call # read state, expect 0x0 echo '\_SB.BTRK 0x1' | sudo tee /proc/acpi/call # power on dmesg -w # watch for "usb 1-10" lsusb | grep 8087 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2170500 Title: HP Spectrex360 Bluetooth To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2170500/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
