Public bug reported:

After upgrading to Ubuntu 26.04, my Mousetrapper Advance 2.0 (USB ID
0d24:000b) no longer works in GNOME (Wayland). It worked before the
upgrade.

The device's USB serial number contains a control character (0x14). From
dmesg:

  usb 1-6.4.2.3: SerialNumber: 7W5715\x14

The kernel enumerates the device fine and evtest shows events on the mouse
event node. "sudo libinput debug-events" also shows POINTER_MOTION. However,
the cursor does not move.

With udev debug logging enabled, every plug-in produces a batch of:

systemd-udevd: sd-device-monitor(manager): Failed to create device
from received message: Invalid argument

"udevadm test" on the parent input device shows:

input57: sd-device: Failed to handle uevent entry 'UNIQ="7W5715
  "', ignoring: Invalid argument
0003:0D24:000B.0016: sd-device: Failed to handle uevent entry 'HID_UNIQ=7W5715
  ', ignoring: Invalid argument

As a result, the device's inputN nodes are never processed: they get no
"seat" tag and do not appear in "loginctl seat-status seat0", so logind does
not hand the device to the compositor. Re-triggering with "udevadm trigger"
does not help, since the re-sent uevent is dropped the same way.

Expected: udev should tolerate (or sanitize) a malformed UNIQ/HID_UNIQ value
instead of dropping the whole uevent, as earlier releases did.

Other devices on the same dock (Logitech wireless mouse/keyboard) work
fine.
