Public bug reported:
[Impact]
With WirePlumber 0.5.17 and PipeWire 1.6.8 (26.10), WirePlumber segfaults
when the Bluetooth adapter re-initialises after suspend/hibernate resume
while a Bluetooth audio device is connected. It crashes in
libspa-bluez5 bluez5-device.c:impl_init (spa_bt_device_add_listener on a
spa_bt_device that was already freed). systemd restarts WirePlumber, but
audio drops and every resume leaves a crash report.
Backtrace (1.6.8-1ubuntu4, dbgsym):
#0 spa_list_insert (spa/utils/list.h:56)
#1 spa_hook_list_append (hook.h:443) funcs=bt_dev_events
#2 impl_init (spa/plugins/bluez5/bluez5-device.c:3412)
#3 spa_handle_factory_init
pw_load_spa_handle -> wp_spa_device_new_from_spa_factory
Cause: WirePlumber 0.5.17 no longer removes SPA device objects
synchronously; libspa-bluez5 in 1.6.8 still assumes it does.
[Fix]
Upstream PipeWire commit b7246d0d5ddc79cbab06e7e55f6dda37c446118d
"bluez5: deal with asynchronous device and node removal" (MR !3004,
fixes upstream issue #5471, same crash). It is in master only; it is
not in 1.6.9 or the 1.6 branch. Please cherry-pick it into the 26.10
pipewire package. It touches only spa/plugins/bluez5 (about 50 lines).
[Test Plan]
1. Connect Bluetooth headphones (A2DP) and play audio.
2. Hibernate or suspend, then resume.
3. Without the fix: wireplumber.service "code=dumped, status=11/SEGV"
about 2 s after resume. With the fix: no crash.
[Where problems could occur]
The bluez5 device/node teardown path: Bluetooth devices or nodes not
showing up again, or not being removed, after the adapter goes away.
