Still reproducible in 2026 (Radeon HD 5650M, kernel 7.0.0, Mint 22.3 /
noble). Root cause: resume runs the full UVD init, but the single ring-test
window races the hardware coming out of D3; the driver gives up after one
try and UVD stays dead until reboot.

Working fix (retry UVD init up to 3 times with full stop between attempts):
https://github.com/ukrainer8/radeon-evergreen-fixes — ships as a DKMS
package (auto-rebuilds on kernel updates), one-command install in README.
Tested: stock ~50% success across 42 suspend cycles, patched 6/6.

The repo also includes an automated suspend-cycle test stand if anyone
wants to verify on their own Evergreen/NI card.
