Public bug reported:

rust-profiling 1.0.16-2 has been in stonking-proposed for ~139 days and
has never built. It has never been in an Ubuntu release.

All builds are in dependency wait on librust-profiling-
procmacros-1+default-dev (>= 1.0.16). rust-profiling-procmacros isn't in
stonking: it was removed in resolute following Debian's removal ("ROM;
unused", Debian #1123871). Debian later re-introduced it (1.0.18-1, now
in testing), but that wasn't synced back.

Even with procmacros, it wouldn't migrate: its feature packages
(+optick, +puffin, +superluminal, +tracy) depend on optional profiler
crates that aren't packaged (rust-puffin is in Debian NEW).

Debian: rust-profiling 1.0.16-2 only in unstable, no binaries, not in
testing; uninstallable feature packages. No bugs.

Upstream (https://github.com/aclysma/profiling) is low-activity (1.0.18,
2026-05). Nothing in Ubuntu or Debian uses it.

Nothing in stonking depends on it. Please remove rust-profiling from
stonking-proposed.

** Affects: rust-profiling (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
