I experienced a similar Bluetooth audio connection problem with Nothing
Ear (2024) on Linux Mint 22.3.

**System details**
- BlueZ: 5.72-0ubuntu5.7
- PipeWire: 1.0.5
- Bluetooth adapter: Intel AX201

**What happened**
- Initially, the earbuds could be discovered and paired, but they did not
appear as a PipeWire audio output.
- After a reboot, the device disappeared from the paired-device list and was
unavailable to `bluetoothctl`.
- The earbuds were discoverable during scanning.
- Re-pairing the earbuds, marking them trusted and connecting manually restored
audio.
- During earlier failed connection attempts, the Bluetooth system log showed:

`profiles/audio/avdtp.c:avdtp_connect_cb(): Function not implemented
(38)`

The Hands-Free Voice gateway also reported `Function not implemented
(38)`.

**Current status**
After re-pairing and trusting the earbuds, I restarted the laptop again with
the earbuds in their closed case. The pairing persisted, and the earbuds
connected automatically when I opened the case. Audio playback now works
normally.

I cannot currently reproduce the issue. I am sharing these findings
because the AVDTP error appears similar to the connection failure
described in this report.
