I've had similar kernel panics (though just purple screen with text and Tux, no green noise) several times over the past ~week since I upgraded from Ubuntu 24 LTS to 26 LTS. The crash usually occurs when saving documents in LibreOffice (installed via snap, version 26.2.5.2), though I believe a couple times it's occured while doing other tasks. uname -a reports Kernel 7.0.0-38-generic.
Thanks for the reference to desktop security center. I did have the option enabled to have sandboxed apps ask for permission. It seems plausible that the crash could be triggered by saving files in a sandboxed snap app, though only sometimes (I have managed to successfully save LibreOffice files, the crash is only triggered about 1/10 times). I disabled the "ask for permissions" option and will see if the issue reoccurs before I try downgrading / upgrading my kernel version. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2154768 Title: After upgrading to linux-image-7.0.0-22-generic on Ubuntu 26.04 "Resolute Raccoon", the system fails to boot and shows a kernel panic. The previous kernel (7.0.0-15-generic) boots normally.
