Sorry for the delay, but I nuked my box to install an absolutely fresh 26.04 . Even got the most recent mobo BIOS from Gigabyte.
Let me first state that my box was running perfectly on 24.04. No issues whatsoever. When I did an in place upgrade as the pop up suggested, I took it and the aftermath is when issues showed up. I figured that Ubuntu delaying the suggested upgrade in place even after the .1 release was enough time to offer a stable solution. That assumption was wrong. Chrome from Google's web site has issues, I think aside from the dropouts. This morning I was watching a video with journalctl -f running "Always on Top". I watched the sound dropouts/stutter and wireplumber would show up most of the time, but not always. After a while of collecting errors with Chrome, I switched to Firefox to play the same video and again wireplumber would show up most of the time when sound deteriorated. While trying to gather more evidence by letting the video run, suddenly the screen went black and I was back at a login prompt. The log shows systemd shutting down gnome-shell components. I also noticed : Failed to start apport-autoreport.service - Process error reports when automatic reporting is enabled. I'll investigate what that's all about. The log file is attached. The black screen/login happened at 6:09, so prior to that videos were playing, but not after. ** Attachment added: "log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wireplumber/+bug/2170107/+attachment/6009042/+files/log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2170107 Title: Chasing down sound dropouts in YouTube videos To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wireplumber/+bug/2170107/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
