Public bug reported:
Title: [Alder Lake-N / N100] System hard freeze during micro-idle on 7.x
kernel (APST/ASPM regression)
Hardware:
- CPU: Intel N100 (Alder Lake-N)
- System: Headless Beelink N100 (ken-mini-s)
- NIC: Intel i226-V (igc driver)
Issue:
Silent system hard lockup during low CPU/IO load (~5% utilization). The system
freezes without logging a kernel panic or traceback to pstore/journalctl.
Root Cause Mitigation:
The freeze only stops when explicitly passing:
`pcie_aspm=off intel_idle.max_cstate=1 processor.max_cstate=1
nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0`
Key Observations:
1. Under 6.x LTS kernels, the system was completely stable out of the box.
2. Under 7.x mainline kernels, aggressive APST and C-state transition latencies
cause the PCIe bus to freeze during low-power transitions.
** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
** Summary changed:
- Hard kernel immediate crash post 8.0.38
