Public bug reported: # Description E.g., a file of 7.6GB that should be decompressed to 15GB.
The file produced is much smaller than the compressed (source) file. But haven't tried echo $? right after runzip -kP, etc. Extracting bogusly uncompressed file results in partial extraction followed by en error (e.g., .tar error). # Scope Ubuntu 26: real installations & WSL. # Workaround: 1) On Ubuntu 26: install 2.1-4.1 wget http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/r/rzip/rzip_2.1-4.1_amd64.deb sha256sum rzip_2.1-4.1_amd64.deb | grep 19532991f30ed9117c7664426370805c1a70bae5ae69cb31b830c4bce18eeacc apt install ./rzip_2.1-4.1_amd64.deb dpkg -l rzip +-- Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold |+- Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend ||+ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad) ||| Name Version Architecture Description +++-==============-============-============-=================================== ii rzip 2.1-4.1 amd64 compression program for large files rzip -V rzip version 2.1 2) Instead of WSL, one can also use rzip currently provided by Cygwin (2.1-1, if IIRC).
