The issue recurred on 16 October 2026 with kernel 7.3.0-9-generic (the original report used 7.3.0-8-generic).
During the low-FPS state, repeated readings showed memory clock stuck at 96 MHz, approximately 90–93% GPU utilization, and roughly 65–66 W GPU power. GPU temperature was around 49 C, with hotspot around 56–57 C. Automatic GPU performance control was active. CS2 was running with SDL_VIDEO_DRIVER=wayland. The desktop was initially at 1920x1080, 144 Hz, with VRR enabled. Disabling VRR while keeping 144 Hz did NOT restore performance: display configuration confirmed fixed 144 Hz, and repeated readings still showed 96 MHz memory clock. Switching to 60 Hz restored performance according to my gameplay observation. I then returned to 144 Hz and enabled VRR again. Post-recovery measurements: current display mode [email protected]+vrr; memory-clock readings 1000 MHz, 1000 MHz, 1000 MHz; automatic GPU performance control active. This reproduces the failure and recovery on a newer Ubuntu kernel. Turning VRR off alone did not clear the failure. It does not establish whether VRR contributes to triggering it. The original trigger remains unknown. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2169747 Title: amdgpu: RX 6700 memory clock stuck at 96 MHz under load until display refresh rate is toggled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2169747/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
