parec --channels=8 ... succeeds cleanly under pipewire-pulse, proving PipeWire's PulseAudio emulation layer correctly supports high-channel- count streams from the Behringer X18.
Recording via direct ALSA (hw:X18XR18) and JACK (pw-jack) both work as expected.
