I've had a look at senddoc, and find that my previous "fix" (setting MAILER="sensible-lomua" when MAILER not already set) no longer has any effect.
Switching the LO option to '/usr/bin/xdg-email' equally has no effect. I've looked at https://git.libreoffice.org/core/commit/12728e3e42bed829bed1e2aed20baf9309489bee but the senddoc I have with 26.2.6.3 is obviously not the same as the version that the git diff is referencing, and I'm reluctant to fly blind, though I see the point. (I assume that the change relates to lines 340-ish in the 26.2.6.3 senddoc ; but there's no indication of what the 30 or so deleted lines are - or were). Is there any possibility of seeing the currently-proposed version in full ?
