I've updated to Ubuntu 26.04 LTS. Do you still want me you to list the
files.

Subject: [Bug 2150701] Re: linux-firmware: Missing AMD SOF firmware for Dell
Pro Max 16 MC16255 causes RT1320 smart amplifiers to be uninitialized —
internal speakers very quiet at max volume

The AMD platform doesn't really relied on SOF firmware so we don't need
to check /lib/firmware/amd/sof.

Could you list the files in /lib/firmware/realtek/rt1320/ ? I'll expect

File: realtek/rt1320/rt1320-patch-code-vab.bin
Version: 0.0.1

File: realtek/rt1320/rt1320-patch-code-vc.bin
Version: 1.0.0

File: realtek/rt1320/rt1321-patch-code-va.bin
Version: 1.3.0

Title:
linux-firmware: Missing AMD SOF firmware for Dell Pro Max 16 MC16255
causes RT1320 smart amplifiers to be uninitialized — internal speakers
  very quiet at max volume

Status in linux-firmware package in Ubuntu:
  New
Status in linux-firmware source package in Noble:
  New

Bug description:
On the Dell Pro Max 16 MC16255 (AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 370, Strix Halo
platform), the internal speakers produce very low volume at maximum system
volume. The RT1320 SoundWire smart amplifiers are detected by ACPI but never
properly initialized by the Linux audio stack.
Root cause: /lib/firmware/amd/sof/ is empty. No AMD SOF firmware or topology
files are present for the AMD ACP 6.3 (Pink Sardine) platform on this hardware.
Without these files the snd_pci_ps driver enables the device but silently fails
to initialize the RT1320 amplifiers, which remain in low-power fallback mode.
  Hardware:

Machine: Dell Pro Max 16 MC16255
CPU: AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 370 (Strix Halo)
Audio co-processor: AMD ACP 6.3, PCI ID 1022:15e2
Codecs: Realtek RT1320 (smart speaker amps), RT722 (headset/jack), over AMD
SoundWire

  Software:

  Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS
  Kernel: 6.17.0-1017-oem
  linux-firmware: 20240318.git3b128b60-0ubuntu2.27

  Evidence:

find /lib/firmware/amd/sof/ — returns nothing (directory exists but is empty)
dmesg shows acpi device:2c: SDCA function SmartAmp (type 1) at 0x4 — amp
detected but no subsequent initialization
dmesg shows only one SoundWire line: headset jack input registered; no RT1320
initialization messages
ALSA exposes RT1320 mixer controls but changing them produces no audible
effect — confirming the amp is not in the signal path

  Additional context:

Dell acknowledges audio issues on this exact model (Dell KB article
000426659, February 2026)
Identical hardware (same CPU, same audio chipset) shows complete audio
failure on Fedora 42/43 with kernel 6.16 (Fedora Discussion thread, June 2025)
Linux Mint users report same issue on MC16255 (Linux Mint Forums, November
2025)
This laptop is sold by Dell with Ubuntu pre-installed, making proper
linux-firmware support a priority

Expected behavior: AMD SOF firmware and topology files for the ACP 6.3 / Pink
Sardine platform should be present in /lib/firmware/amd/sof/ so the RT1320
amplifiers can be fully initialized at boot.
