Public bug reported: After upgrading to Ubuntu 26.04 (GNOME Shell 50, Wayland), Qt 6 applications show a busy cursor for ~20-30 s whenever they open a window that requests activation/focus, even after the process has exited.
Observations: - Flameshot: after taking a capture (copy/save/close), the busy cursor stays for ~20-30 s. Running from a terminal, the Flameshot process has already exited while the cursor is still spinning. Upstream report: https://github.com/flameshot-org/flameshot/issues/4793 - The issue is not related to Flameshot's clipboard handling: with "flameshot gui --raw | wl-copy --type image/png" the clipboard keep-alive path is not used, but the busy cursor still appears. - CopyQ: a single click on the tray icon opens a popup with no busy cursor; a double click opening the main window triggers the same busy cursor. - Flameshot shows the busy cursor even with CopyQ fully closed. It looks like Qt windows request activation (xdg-activation) but the startup/activation sequence never completes, so GNOME keeps the busy cursor until timeout. Installed: qt6-wayland 6.10.2-4 Non-Qt apps (e.g. Nautilus) are not affected. --- ProblemType: Bug ApportVersion: 2.34.1-0ubuntu0.1 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME DistroRelease: Ubuntu 26.04 InstallationDate: Installed on 2022-10-04 (1476 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS "Jammy Jellyfish" - Release amd64 (20220809.1) NonfreeKernelModules: zfs Package: qt6-wayland 6.10.2-4 PackageArchitecture: amd64 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 7.0.0-38.38-generic 7.0.14 Tags: resolute wayland-session Uname: Linux 7.0.0-38-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to resolute on 2026-10-18 (1 days ago) UserGroups: adm cdrom dip docker lpadmin lxd nordvpn plugdev postgres sambashare sudo _MarkForUpload: True ** Affects: qt6-wayland (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-collected resolute wayland-session ** Tags added: apport-collected resolute wayland-session ** Description changed: After upgrading to Ubuntu 26.04 (GNOME Shell 50, Wayland), Qt 6 applications show a busy cursor for ~20-30 s whenever they open a window that requests activation/focus, even after the process has exited.
