Public bug reported:
**[HP ZBook Power 16 G11 A] Short press of power button generates no
KEY_POWER event on Ubuntu**
Hardware: HP ZBook Power 16 G11 A Mobile Workstation PC
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS
BIOS: W85 Ver. 01.11.01
OS: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
**Problem:**
Short-pressing the physical power button while Ubuntu is running has no
effect. The button works normally when powering on the laptop from a
fully powered-off state.
**Tests performed:**
* Reproduced with Linux 7.0.0-34-generic and 7.0.0-38-generic.
* Also reproduced the lack of shutdown response in an Ubuntu 26.04 Live USB
session.
* GNOME power button action is configured as `interactive`.
* `evtest` shows no KEY_POWER event when pressing the physical power button on
Ubuntu 24.04.
* The `gpio-keys` input device advertises KEY_POWER support.
* No corresponding increase was observed in the `amd_gpio` power IRQ counter
during testing.
* Shutting down through the desktop menu or `sudo poweroff` works normally.
**Expected behavior:**
The operating system should receive a power button event when the
physical power button is briefly pressed.
**Actual behavior:**
No input event is detected and no shutdown action occurs.
This may involve ACPI, GPIO interrupt routing, HP firmware, or Linux
kernel driver compatibility.
** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
