Public bug reported:
I have found that none of the installed CD/DVD burner apps in Ubuntu
7.10 can do multi-session burns. This is a very bad idea. One of Windows
strengths, is that its CD/DVD burners are multi-session by default. If
Ubuntu wants this project to give Windose a good thrashing, then a
program like Brasero should be installed out of the box, and the setting
for multi-session burns should be set as default. Brasero asks you to
check the multi-session burn check box each time. Too many steps. I hope
that Hefty Heron will have this multi-session burn program installed by
default. There are some newbies and switchers that want everything to
run in Ubuntu as easily as Windoze right out of the box. Now with this
new agreement with Dell computers, (congratulations!) this feature is
even more imperative. I have not investigated K3B as it is a KDE
program, but if it has multi-session burning ability, it should be
included as a user choice. There are blogs speaking about gnome-baker. I
don't see it in the Add/Remove, or in Synaptic Pkg Mgr. Please
investigate, and I will look for this in either in future updates, or in
Hefty Heron in April/May.
Thanks for listening.
