Public bug reported: Binary package hint: b43-fwcutter
I have a Compaq 6110 laptop (bcm4318 wlan card) with ubuntu hardy heron and kernel image 2.6.24-5.8. I tried to make the wlan to work by installing b43-fwcutter (ver. 008 from repository) with no success. After to check its project page (http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43#firmwareinstallation) I figured out b43-fwcutter v008 is deprecated. So, I manually installed v009 (pointed as the right version) and downloaded the right binary driver (pointed, also, on that page: http://downloads.openwrt.org/sources/broadcom-wl-4.80.53.0.tar.bz2). The result is my wlan starts to work (but still without the radio's led). ** Affects: b43-fwcutter (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- b43-fwcutter's 008 version is marked as deprecated on b43 project. It should be updated. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/186107 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
