Update: the speakers now work on 7.0.0-38, including after a full power- off. The difference is that the ALSA control “Speaker Force Firmware Load” (card 0, numid=3) is now on at boot, because alsa-restore restores it from /var/lib/alsa/asound.state. Turning it on at runtime did not help; it needs to be on when the driver starts. The “tas2781_apply_calib: V1 CRC error” message still appears every boot. Before this I booted 6.17.0-29 once, so I can’t fully rule out that 6.17 left the amplifier in a lasting state. This suggests the 7.0 TAS2781 driver does not load the amplifier firmware at startup unless forced.
