GSConnect's clipboard plugin does nothing on 26.04: every call to its clipboard D-Bus service (GetText, SetText, GetMimetypes, GetValue, SetValue) hangs until the client times out, so pushing or syncing the clipboard from a paired phone silently fails. Other plugins work. Cause: GJS 1.88 (GNOME 50) passes the `handle-method-call` signal arguments as (methodName, invocation, parameters); GSConnect 71's shell/clipboard.js `_onHandleMethodCall` expects (..., parameters, invocation). The call throws, the error handler throws on the swapped argument, and no D-Bus reply is ever sent. The journal shows "Unhandled promise rejection ... clipboard.js:140:30". Upstream: fixed on main 2026-07-24 (https://github.com/GSConnect/gnome- shell-extension-gsconnect/issues/2182). A maintainer notes "only v72+ is compatible with shell 50" (https://github.com/GSConnect/gnome-shell- extension-gsconnect/issues/2199). v73 regressed clipboard differently; v74 (2026-10-18) fixes that (https://github.com/GSConnect/gnome-shell- extension-gsconnect/releases/tag/v74). Later Ubuntu series currently publish 73-1, so they are affected by the v73 regression too. [ Test Plan ] 1. On 26.04 with gnome-shell-extension-gsconnect 71-1ubuntu1 enabled, run: gdbus call --session --dest org.gnome.Shell.Extensions.GSConnect.Clipboard --object-path /org/gnome/Shell/Extensions/GSConnect/Clipboard --method org.gnome.Shell.Extensions.GSConnect.Clipboard.GetMimetypes 2. Observe: "Error: Timeout was reached". 3. With the fixed package, after logging in again, the same call returns the clipboard's MIME types, and text pushed from a paired phone lands on the clipboard. [ Where problems could occur ] The update moves GSConnect from 71 to 74, touching all plugins, not just the clipboard. Regressions would show up as plugins failing to load in GNOME Shell 50.
