Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 26.04.1 on a Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x (14Q8X9, Snapdragon X Elite,
machine type 83ED).

Normal updates on Oct 29 installed kernel 7.0.0-42-generic. After
rebooting, the laptop's own keyboard doesn't work at all. It works in
the GRUB menu (I can pick entries and caps lock toggles the light), but
as soon as Ubuntu starts loading it stops working, and it's dead at the
login screen. A USB keyboard works fine, and so do the touchpad and
touchscreen.

If I boot 7.0.0-38-generic from Advanced options in GRUB, everything
works again, so I've set that as my default for now.

What dmesg shows on 7.0.0-42 for the keyboard (3-003a):

i2c_hid_of 3-003a: supply vdd not found, using dummy regulator
i2c_hid_of 3-003a: supply vddl not found, using dummy regulator
i2c_hid_of 3-003a: can't add hid device: -22
i2c_hid_of 3-003a: probe with driver i2c_hid_of failed with error -22

On one boot it was a bit different:

i2c_hid_of 3-003a: failed to change power setting. (4 times)
i2c_hid_of 3-003a: can't add hid device: -110
i2c_hid_of 3-003a: probe with driver i2c_hid_of failed with error -110

On 7.0.0-38 the keyboard shows up normally:

input: hid-over-i2c 048D:8987 Keyboard as
/devices/platform/soc@0/bc0000.geniqup/b80000.i2c/i2c-3/3-003a/0018:048D:8987.0001/input/input1

Not sure if it matters, but the x1e80100-lenovo-yoga-slim7x.dtb file is
different between the two kernel versions.

Bug 2170592 looks like it might be the same problem on 26.10 with the
7.3 kernel (same keyboard, same laptop).

I filed this from 7.0.0-38 since that's the kernel where the keyboard
works, so the attached logs are from that one. Happy to test a kernel or
collect more info if someone tells me what's needed.
