Public bug reported: Title: Very minor issue easily solved - Dell Pro 13 Premium (PA13250): built-in camera not detected unless linux-modules-vision (intel_cvs) is installed (as well as linux-modules-ipu7-oem-* )
This is a very minor bug. But it might be the cause for other similar issues such as [#2171056](https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2171056). My camera was not working, and after a long "conversation" with Claude "we" found that 1) it was not detected as packages were missing 2) there is an issue with libcamera and the resolution (cf bug #2172303 ov08x40: 1928x1088 binned mode delivers ~3.7 fps on 2-lane Dell Pro Max 16 Premium (IPU6 + CVS) – webcam unusable at <=1080p) Hardware: Dell Pro 13 Premium PA13250 (Lunar Lake, IPU7), sensor OV08X40 (\_SB_.LNK1, OVTI08F4), Intel CVS \_SB.PC00.CVSS (INTC10DE) on a Synaptics SVP7500 USBIO bridge (06cb:0701). Kernel: 7.0.0-1017-oem, linux-modules-ipu7-oem-26.04 installed. With the default installation the sensor is never enumerated: no i2c-OVTI08F4:00 device, ov08x40 loaded but unbound, only IPU7 ISYS entities in media-ctl. In the firmware (SSDT, LCHS == 1 branch), LNK1._DEP returns {"\\_SB.PC00.CVSS", "\\_SB.PC00.XHCI.RHUB.HS03.VIC1"}, and nothing handles CVSS. Installing linux-modules-vision-oem-26.04 (intel_cvs) fixes enumeration: Intel CVS driver i2c-INTC10DE:00: cvs_common_probe:Transfer of ownership success intel_ipu7_isys: bind ov08x40 5-0036 nlanes is 2 port is 0 Remarks: - linux-modules-vision-oem-* and linux-modules-ipu7-oem-* should be installed by default on this platform. - intel_cvs prints a kernel stack trace during probe (cvs_common_probe.cold+0x3d2/0x537 [intel_cvs]), plus "find_oem_prod_id: ACPI method OPID not found" and "magic number in dev response not supported". - int3472-discrete INT3472:00: "GPIO type 0x02 unknown; the sensor may not work" (DSC0._DSM function 3 returns 0x0100A402 in CVS mode). - gpio_usbio usbio.usbio-gpio.0: "[Firmware Bug]: GPIO 4 is not in FW pins bitmap". - Even with all kernel pieces in place, the camera is not usable out of the box: libcamera 0.7.0 aborts for non-full-resolution streams (separate libcamera bug maybe related to #2172303 ov08x40: 1928x1088 binned mode delivers ~3.7 fps on 2-lane Dell Pro Max 16 Premium (IPU6 + CVS) – webcam unusable at <=1080p), which also crashes PipeWire. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2172580 Title: Dell Pro 13 Premium (PA13250): built-in camera not detected unless linux-modules-vision (intel_cvs) is installed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2172580/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
