I think
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/transmission/+bug/2131714 is a
duplicate of this issue.
The cause is that the transmission-gtk profile does not allow a second
transmission-gtk to make its GApplication calls to the one already
running. The second one calls org.gtk.Actions.DescribeAll and then
org.gtk.Application.Open on /com/transmissionbt/transmission, and both
processes are labeled transmission-gtk. It then exits with "Failed to
register: ... AccessDenied" without passing the link on.
With apparmor 5.0.2-0ubuntu1~26.04.1 and transmission-gtk
4.1.1+dfsg-1ubuntu1.1, this rule in /etc/apparmor.d/local/transmission-
gtk fixes it, followed by sudo apparmor_parser -r
/etc/apparmor.d/transmission:
dbus (send, receive)
bus=session
path=/com/transmissionbt/transmission{,_*}{,/**}
interface={org.gtk.Application,org.gtk.Actions}
peer=(label=@{profile_name}),
The {,_*} covers the application ID with the device and inode of the
config directory appended, which transmission-gtk uses when started with
a non-default config directory. Bug #2131714 reports the same problem
for .torrent files opened from Firefox.
