I can confirm this issue on another Ubuntu 26.04 (Resolute) amd64 system. Environment: - Ubuntu 26.04 (Resolute) - Twinkle 1:1.10.3+dfsg-2 - Qt 5.15.18+dfsg-1ubuntu1
The crash and backtrace were identical to those described in this report. I independently rebuilt the Ubuntu source package using: DEB_CXXFLAGS_APPEND="-fPIC" DEB_CFLAGS_APPEND="-fPIC" dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc -b Verification of the rebuilt binary: readelf -rW /usr/bin/twinkle | grep QCoreApplication4self Result: R_X86_64_GLOB_DAT ... _ZN16QCoreApplication4selfE@Qt_5 The original binary contained R_X86_64_COPY instead. The rebuilt package was installed successfully, and all three packages (twinkle, twinkle-console and twinkle-common) work with the rebuilt binary. This independently confirms that rebuilding Twinkle with -fPIC fixes the startup crash. Please consider applying this fix to the Ubuntu package so that other users do not encounter this issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2172027 Title: twinkle crashes on startup: QCoreApplication::self copy-relocated in PIE binary (needs -fPIC) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/twinkle/+bug/2172027/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
